Jump Set to Zone 4

Goal of the Drill
Develop the jump-set technique, setter timing and the ability to deliver an accurate ball to zone 4 while on the move.
Explanation of the Drill
Two players face each other parallel to the net. One starts the drill by tossing the ball to the partner under control. The other moves toward the incoming ball, gets under it in time and jump-sets it to zone 4. After the set, the ball is retrieved by the player at the starting point and the drill continues the same way.
Before jumping, the player must set the feet in balance, prepare the hands early and contact the ball in the air above the head. The fingers stay spread in a natural position, the ball is never taken into the palms, and the set is directed by a controlled push of the fingers and wrists. After the jump the player lands balanced on both feet and returns quickly to the ready position for the next repetition.
