Kneeling Left-Right Reaction and One-Touch Control

Goal of the Drill
Develop reaction speed, hand-eye coordination and the ability to play balls that change direction suddenly with the right technique; improve balance and ball control in the defensive position.
Explanation of the Drill
Two players face each other about 2-3 metres apart. One player stands holding two balls. The other kneels with the torso leaning slightly forward, arms open to the sides and palms facing up in the ready position. Without telegraphing the direction, the standing player throws one of the balls to the right or the left. The kneeling player reads the direction quickly, reaches a hand under the ball and returns it to the partner in a single touch off the palm without holding it. The drill continues alternating right and left.
The player keeps the torso balanced throughout and the head up, tracking the ball to the last moment. Reach the ball not just by extending the arm but by turning the shoulder and torso toward it; on contact the palm faces up and the ball is directed back under control.
