    Standing Arm Swings

    Goal of the Drill

Increase blood flow to the shoulders and chest; warm the upper body dynamically to prepare arm and shoulder range of motion before serving and spiking.

    Explanation of the Drill

The player stands with the feet shoulder-width apart. The arms swing across each other in front of the body, then open backward to stretch the chest. Repeat at a controlled tempo with gradually increasing range. Keep the shoulders relaxed and initiate the movement from the arms.

The aim is not to stretch the muscles but to dynamically increase blood flow and range of motion in the shoulder joint. The movement should be smooth and rhythmic, never jerky.
