    Overhead Triceps Stretch

    Goal of the Drill

Release tension in the back of the arm (triceps) and the top of the shoulder; support arm range of motion before and after spiking and serving.

    Explanation of the Drill

The player raises one arm, bends the elbow and lowers the hand toward the upper back behind the neck. The other hand gently holds the bent elbow and presses it slightly back and down; the stretch is felt in the triceps and the top of the shoulder.

Keep the torso upright, avoid arching the lower back and apply pressure under control. Use short dynamic holds before training and longer static holds in the cool-down. Switch sides when the time is up.
