    Half-Kneeling Hip Flexor Stretch

    Goal of the Drill

Increase hip flexor flexibility; support hip range of motion in movements such as the attack approach and the jump.

    Explanation of the Drill

The player takes a half-kneeling position with one knee on the floor and the other foot in front, knee bent to 90 degrees. The hips are pushed gently forward with the torso upright. The stretch is felt at the front of the hip on the kneeling side. Optionally, reaching the back arm overhead deepens the stretch.

Do not over-arch the lower back, and keep the torso balanced as the hips move forward. Use short controlled holds as a warm-up and longer, deeper static holds as a cool-down. Switch sides when the time is up.
