    Seated Side-to-Side Glute Stretch

    Goal of the Drill

Release tension in the external hip rotators and the glutes; create a stretch at different hip angles by moving the torso from side to side.

    Explanation of the Drill

The player sits on the floor, bends one leg and draws the knee toward the chest, holding it with both hands; the other leg rests comfortably forward on the floor. The free hand can be used on the floor for balance. From this position the torso moves side to side under control, bringing the held knee toward the chest; the stretch is felt from a different angle in each direction.

Try to keep the back upright during the movement, and let the pull come from the controlled movement of the torso rather than from the arms. The stretch should be felt in the glutes and the outer hip. Switch sides when the set time is up.
