Cross-Body Shoulder Stretch
StretchBeginnerFlexibility 1:00

Goal of the Drill
Increase flexibility in the rear shoulder (posterior deltoid) and upper back; support shoulder comfort before and after spiking and blocking.
Explanation of the Drill
Standing or seated, the player extends one arm across the chest toward the opposite side. The other arm holds it at the elbow or upper arm and gently presses it toward the chest. Keep the shoulders down and relaxed and the torso still. The stretch is felt behind the shoulder of the extended arm.
Apply pressure gradually and under control — never yank or pull sharply. Use short, dynamic holds as a warm-up and longer static holds as a cool-down. Switch sides when the time is up.
