    90/90 Hip Stretch

    Goal of the Drill

Increase flexibility of the internal and external hip rotators; develop hip range of motion to support preparation for and recovery from rotational movements.

    Explanation of the Drill

The player sits on the floor and places the front leg bent at 90 degrees at both hip and knee. The back leg is also positioned at 90 degrees, out to the side and behind. Keeping the back upright, the torso leans over the front leg; the stretch is felt on the outside of the front hip and on the inner/front hip of the back leg.

Keep the hips as level and balanced as possible and do not strain the lower back. Bring the torso forward gradually with the breath. Switch sides when the time is up.
